It is hard to believe...

But, RARE has served Oregon for 15 years – one tenth of Oregon’s 150 year history! Woohoo - this is cause for celebration and fellowship!

This is a blog about the life and times of those of us who chose to serve Oregon’s rural communities (and have a great time at it).

Use it to keep up on the latest celebration news, and reconnect with former RARE participants. Share it with your fellow alums, visit often and then join in September's celebratory event!

Include in your post
· The year(s) you served and your community
· Where you are now
· What you have been doing since RARE
· Share a little about your RARE experience. Don’t forget to dig out those old photos of you during your service term – you know the ones with the funny hair cut or you covered in mud…

Howdy RARE!

That’s me in the orange “uncycling” during a photo shoot for the City of Portland’s commercial recycling program. I’ve been an avid recycler since childhood – some things don’t change.

After completing my year with RARE, I went on to receive a masters in community and regional planning from U of O focusing on social planning and behavior change. RARE helped me make some important decisions in work, life and play.

Since graduation I’ve lived in Portland, Oregon working as both a planning consultant and, more recently, a program developer for the Bureau of Planning and Sustainability.

I hope to see many familiar faces at the reunion though I can’t promise to be there. I’m due with baby #1 on Sept. 15th.

Cheers, Pam (Pickens) Neild
